El Sitio is a rural residence located among vineyards in La Frontera, on the small and quiet island of El Hierro. Here you can enjoy the wonderful views of the mountains, the open ocean and the valley of El Golfo at your feet. You will rest comfortably in this quiet place surrounded by nature. Our complex consists of seven cottages built from volcanic stones, a yoga room, a massage room and an old bodega which today is used as our reception and meeting place. The whole residence is connected by gardens and communal spaces brimming with Canarian flora. It is an ideal place for adventurous travelers, small groups, lovers and people who wish to retreat and have a rejuvenating vacation.

All our vacation apartments are modest, personalized and built in the traditional Herreño (local) style with lava stones. You will enjoy excellent views of the ocean, the vineyards and the mountains. Each of the apartments are named after the different villages of the
island and are all located in the rural complex of El Sitio (Frontera).

Our beautiful Sala hosts various activities such as: Yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, dance,
therapies, exhibitions, etc. We have several weekly courses available for locals and
guests alike, which can be booked in advance. In our massage room local masseurs offer a wide range of different techniques, such as: Acupressure, Sports or Relaxation
massage, Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi, Ayurvedic massage, Reiki, etc.

El Sitio, Its history

Until the 70s of the 20th century, the custom of “Las Mudadas” (The movings) existed in El Hierro.
The families, who normally lived in the highlands of the island, moved with their families and all their beasts to the valley of El Golfo.
